Joanna was appointed the Bank of England’s Chief Operating Officer in July 2017 and previously was the Executive Director of Human Resources. Joanna has spent most of her career at the Bank and has worked in many areas including Banking Supervision, International, Markets and Private Office. She headed the Statistics Division as her first Head of Division role, and also led Customer Banking during the financial crisis. Her career has also included a secondment to the Border Agency. Joanna currently has responsibility for the day to day management and transformation of the Bank including Finance, Technology, Information and Physical Security, Human Resources, Property and Procurement. She sits on the Bank’s Board (‘Court’), Remco and Arco.
After an Economics degree at Fitzwilliam, Joanna studied for a PGCE and spent two years as a Maths & PE teacher at a secondary school in Kent.
Joanna is a School Governor at a state school for 11-16 year olds, and a Non Exec Director at Persimmon.
Interests include walking, running and swimming, and she has three children.
