Becoming a carer-friendly organisation

Across the UK, according to the 2011 Census, 6.5 million people are carers, supporting a loved one who is older, disabled or seriously ill. That’s 1 in 8 adults who care, unpaid, for family and friends and recent research suggests that this ratio has increased considerably, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic. Caring responsibilities can have an impact on their daily job, therefore appropriate support and flexibility should be offered by organisations in order to retain their carer workers. In this session we will look at:

  • how it is especially important to support working carers in order to retain them in the workforce
  • how to support and maintain their wellbeing, day to day performance and high productivity
  • evidence on how carers have been impacted by COVID-19.
