Closing keynote: Turn the office into a lab

As Academic Director of INSEAD’s Randomized Controlled Trials Lab, Maria Guadalupe is at the leading edge of experimental research in the fields of employment and management. Drawing on studies on a range of themes of organisational life – including mergers and acquisitions, organisational performance, employee empowerment and social identity – she will make the case for the relevance, practicality and usefulness of running workplace RCTs. Questions she will explore include:

• why is there a need for randomised controlled trials (RCTs) in management and how do they complement other methods?
• how has the potential for RCTs in management has developed over the years?
• what are the real barriers to running or getting support for RCTs?
• what can academics and employers do next to make experimental research a common feature of workplace research?

Speaker: Maria Guadalupe, Professor of Economics, Academic Director of the INSEAD Randomized Control Trials (RCT) Lab
Chair: Jonny Gifford, Senior Advisor for Organisational Behaviour, CIPD
