The power of empathy — exploring disability and mental health issues in recent times 

The current pandemic and existing inequalities has created increased uncertainty for the future, particularly affecting individuals with disabilities and mental health conditions. Those employees could be in need of extra support from their managers and coworkers to be able to maintain a mental wellbeing and remain productive. Showing flexibility, empathy and understanding towards your people’ needs and difficulties is the key to fully supported and motivated them at work. This session highlights:

  • the behaviours and practices which individuals, and organisations should consider to better engage and include disabled individuals:
  • exploring personal experiences
  • understanding barriers to equality and inclusion faced by disabled staff developing behaviours and processes to mitigate the barriers faced by disabled staff during the current crisis
