The true impact of Long Covid effects on your workforce

Long Covid is being seen as a second, largely invisible, pandemic coming at the tail end of each wave; with ongoing ill health threatening jobs and livelihoods and depleting workforces of key talent.

As well as presenting us with a specific new condition to understand and manage, studying the impacts of this ‘biggest mass disabling event since 1918’ can shine a spotlight on opportunities to improve previous practice on wellbeing and inclusion.

People with Long Covid will encounter multiple different professions on their journey to recovery. The support offered and how it is delivered can have as much impact on people’s wellbeing and ability to fully and successfully perform at work as their symptoms.

However, many organisations can only see the tip of the iceberg that could sink our NHS. So, how can businesses effectively manage the Long Covid impact in the workplace and support their workforce? This session will analyse:

    • what is the current extent of this issue?
    • what is the role of patient groups?
    • how does Long Covid highlight why the wellbeing of our human resources is a strategic business priority?
    • where should employers start to make reasonable adjustments and support their people?
    • what is HR’s role?
    • What else needs to be taken into consideration?
