Elaine Mahon – Head of People Analytics, Office for National Statistics
With a background in Occupational Psychology, Elaine is passionate about using evidence to improve decision-making and drive sustainable high organisational performance, and employee well-being. Having spent the last six years working in HR, predominately Civil Service Departments in and out of Whitehall, she has experienced the challenges business leaders face, especially at times of change and transformation, and the opportunities that can be leveraged from shaping an inclusive and empowering organisational culture. Alongside academic qualifications, HR Business Partnering and consulting has ensured Elaine possesses a firm knowledge of what makes people tick in organisations, and developed an aptitude for pragmatic problem-solving and decision-making.
Fanatical about working in the heart of data analysis in ONS, Elaine has been setting up a People Analytics function – a new and exciting venture which will see people data being used in aspirational ways. By bringing statistical analysis, data science, business acumen and the psychology of human behaviour, Elaine is ensuring ONS can truly nurture and leverage its human and social capital. Understanding the psychology of people and applying this to analytical findings will achieve her aim of telling the people story through actionable and relevant insight. She believes that through this insight, leaders can make great decisions, delivering happier people and organisational success.
