Emma Evans, Head of HR, St John Ambulance.
Emma has worked at St John Ambulance (SJA), since August 2003 supporting the organisation in its transformation journey. The organisation has constantly evolved and Emma has had the task of bringing an HR Business Partner rigour to the commercial side of the organisation, introducing a centralised HR administrative function supported by an online MY-DATA system and overhauling existing recruitment processes. SJA also spans both commercial (front line and back office) and volunteer workforces, across which Emma has successfully implemented measures that have provided significant impact to the way the organisation manages and supports its people in both spectrums. Sitting on the People and Organisation leadership team, she operates at a Strategic level, inputting at senior level across all functions and contributing operationally as well as from an HR perspective to key decisions and has been instrumental in leading on processes that have driven organisational growth and performance, as well as deal with high profile employee/volunteer relations issues. Emma has been a driving force in the design and delivery of the Developing Future Managers programme. This programme has yielded great success and has enabled the organisation to gain a real sense of the potential and capability within its people – not just those moving into leadership roles.
