Peter McLinn, Co-Chair, Northern Area Partnership
After 20 yrs in Mechanical Engineering and Technical training in a large Chemical company Peter took the opportunity of a career break in 1988 to study full time for his professional personnel management qualifications. After successfully passing his post graduate examinations his first appointment was as a Personnel Officer in a large Petrochemical company transferring from engineering into what we now all know as HR . He has enjoyed a diverse HR career with experience of working in the Manufacturing , Food , Infrastructure services , Public and consultancy sectors in hands on team member roles to head of function. Peter was awarded the Distinguished Badge of Merit by the Institute in recognition of his work in the profession and local community where he has given his time voluntarily and diversely over the years in activities ranging from a senior league football coach to a citizens advice on line advisor.
Giving something back to his profession Peter was Chair of his local Tees Valley branch for 6yrs and has carried out many different roles on the branch committee. Peter is currently Co Chair of the CIPD regional Northern Area Partnership committee (NAP) consisting of ten northern branches representing 25k members.
