Rebekah Ayres is Director of Organisational Capabilities at HM Revenue and Customs. HMRC is the UK’s tax, payments and customs authority, and we have a vital purpose: we collect the money that pays for the UK’s public services, and help families and individuals with targeted financial support. Last year we collected over £570bn – money that funds the nation’s schools, health and emergency services, and much more.

Employing over 60,000 people across the UK, HMRC is a complex organisation with a massive transformation programme. We are becoming a more modern, digital organisation, and we’re moving from over 170 offices to a smaller number of Regional Centres which will be inclusive, flexible and inspiring environments for our people.

There is no bigger or more challenging organisational transformation in Europe and we are building a world class OD function to support that work. Our 500-strong team works alongside HR business partners in driving organisational capability through design, development and culture change activity, and innovative change in learning through its Leadership and Tax Academies. Being at the heart of leading such exciting change across our organisation is a wonderful experience, and I’m looking forward to sharing some of that with you.
