Sarah Leijten, Head of Bradfield Horizons (Careers & HE), Bradfield College
Sarah has 25+ years of HR experience gained working for a mix of blue chip multi-national companies, SME’s and small businesses ranging from oil and gas majors (Shell, BG Group & Centrica) to industrials, manufacturing (Element Six industrial diamonds – De Beers) and eye health-care; and is currently the Head of Bradfield Horizons (Careers & HE) for Bradfield College, a large independent boarding school in the private education sector.
She has extensive HR generalist and specialist talent management experience delivering HR strategies aligned to business objectives as Group HRD, across the full remit of HR related activities; as well as raising in-house HR capability and business partnering.
With Board level participation along with a ‘roll-up-your-sleeve’, pragmatic approach to HR delivery she has a wealth of experience gained from living and working in Africa, the Middle East, Russia, Central Asia, the Far East as well as continental Europe, and North America. The move into education to lead the careers function in a large independent school has raised questions over how to embed the skills employers are looking for, the multitude of post-education options now open to school leavers and how best to partner with businesses as well as equip pupils for life beyond formal education.
