Robert Smith

Robert joined Serco in 1989, initially working in business development and contract operations before moving into the corporate centre to set up the Serco Management System and assume responsibility for risk management, ethics, health and safety, environment and internal audit.  Robert’s current responsibilities cover ethics and elements of ethical compliance covering business conduct and standards of behaviour, the Group Speak Up process, anti-corruption and competitive behaviour and human rights.  Robert also leads on Serco’s ESG agenda with responsibility for producing their annual CR/ESG report.  Robert is Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP-I).  Robert is a Chartered Director, Honorary Life Fellow of the Institute of Directors and sits on their IoD Accreditation and Standards Committee.  Until he completed his 6 year term in late 2023 he was Chair and Lay Trustee of the Royal College of Pathologists chairing the Board, Governance and Nominations Committees.
