Researcher in AI Ethics, Fairness & Discrimination, Coventry University

Was Rahman is an AI Ethics researcher and writer with over 30 years’ business experience working with data technologies. He is currently a doctoral researcher at Coventry University, investigating fairness, bias and discrimination when AI is used in HR business decision-making.

He is also a Research Fellow at Bonn University, developing a research programme on the “next generation” of AI ethics. This will explore how ethics theory, practice and governance will evolve as AI becomes an increasingly integral part of business and human activity.

His business career includes leadership roles at technology consultancies, introducing data-driven change into clients’ business working practices, through technologies such as people analytics and process automation. In In the 1990s, he set up Accenture’s Change Management practice in Poland, leading HR, L&D and OD&D programmes in former “Soviet Bloc” countries.

Outside work, Was can be obsessive about coffee, photography and classic Alfa Romeos.
