Head of People & Organisation, Siemens Smart Infrastructure GB&I

Paul Birt is the Head of People & Organisation for Siemens Smart Infrastructure GB&I. He graduated in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from the University of Paisley and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Management.

Paul began his career at Intec (Inverclyde) Ltd, becoming Chief Executive of this training organisation after 12 years. In 1996, he joined Siemens as Head of Training and Development for their Microelectronics Factory in Newcastle. He chaired the North Tyneside Education Business Partnership and the Education & Skills Board of the North East Chamber of Commerce from 1996-1999.

He completed a Diploma in Personnel Management at the University of Northumbria and became a Chartered Member of the CIPD in 2000. In 2001, Paul became Corporate Personnel Manager for Siemens plc, later serving as General Manager of HR Shared Services from 2004-2008. He was appointed HR Director for Siemens Gas Turbine division in Lincoln in 2009 and served as Director Governor on the Lincoln College Board from 2011-2015.

Paul has been a founding Trustee and Chair of Lincoln University Technical College since 2012. In 2014, he became Divisional HR Business Partner for Siemens Energy Management, which was renamed Siemens Smart Infrastructure in 2019. He joined the Board of SEMTA, now Enginuity, in 2018 and became Director of EAL Limited in 2019. In 2022, he joined the Greater Manchester Institute of Technology Steering Board.
