Karen Chummun

 Karen Chummun is the Deputy Director of People, Talent & Leadership for NHS England’s South East region.

With extensive experience across the NHS and public sector, she is dedicated to building inclusive talent management practices and leadership pipelines, creating opportunities for people to thrive.

Previously, as national Head of Talent Pipelines, Karen led national talent inclusion initiatives. As Head of Talent for London, she played a key role in establishing the London Regional Talent Board and the CEO and Executive Director Talent Pool. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she supported critical workforce deployment across London’s health and social care system.

A trained Board and Executive coach, mentor, and facilitator, Karen is skilled in systems thinking, project management, and a range of psychometric tools. Her career reflects a deep commitment to equity, leadership development, and organisational transformation.

Karen also serves as Joint Branch Chair for the Health People Management Association (HPMA) London Academy, championing excellence in NHS people management across London and the South East.
