Clare Duffield
Assistant Chief Officer, People & Organisational Development, Police Service of Northern Ireland
Clare is an accomplished HR Leader and Senior Executive with experience across the public and private sector. She has held a variety of large-scale, challenging and rewarding Director portfolios across N. Ireland’s Public Services, initially in Health and then as Director of HR and Corporate Services at the Education Authority (EA) and currently as Chief Officer for People and OD at the Police Service for Northern Ireland.
Clare transformed the People strategy and function at EA further to its creation as a new single regional organisation from the former 5 Education and Library Boards to better support schools and the education workforce.
At PSNI she is leading a people strategy to improve workforce representativeness, wellbeing and culture.
She has a passion for customer service, employee engagement, continuous improvement and keeping the HR agenda real. These are rooted in her early career in Retailing, as Head of Divisional HR for B&Q and from her desire to create good jobs and great places to work.
As a Board Member of the Labour Relations Agency, Clare is committed to developing positive workplace relations to enable a productive and prosperous economy. She enjoys Mentoring through programmes enabled by Women in Business and the Women’s Sport Leadership Academy and encourages the development of high performing teams.
Clare is a mum of 2 boys with strong family connections to competitive sport, As an aspiring age-group Triathlete herself, she has a keen interest in the correlation between high performance sport and leadership.
