Colin Jack

Director of Business and Employment Regulation, Department for the Economy (DfE)

Colin Jack has been Director of Business and Employment Regulation in the Department for the Economy (DfE) since 2016, leading the development of employment relations policy and legislation, including the “Good Jobs” Employment Rights Bill, which is a key strand of DfE’s Economic Vision. 


Colin is also lead official in DfE’s partner relationship with the Labour Relations Agency and leads a Division of 160 staff, including the Secretariat to the Industrial Tribunals and Fair Employment Tribunal, the Redundancy Payments Service and policy and legislation staff working on credit unions and company law as well as employment relations.


Colin has over 30 years’ experience in the NI Civil Service in five departments, including Senior Civil Service roles in the Department for Employment and Learning, Office of the First Minister and deputy First Minister and the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure.
