Gráinne McCartan

Learning & Organisational Development Manager, NI Fire & Rescue

Gráinne is the Learning & Organisational Development Manager in Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS). Gráinne has over 20 years’ experience in Leadership Development and previously worked for a number of years in the Further & Higher Education Sector. 

In her current role within the People & Culture Directorate she is responsible for the design & delivery of in-house leadership qualifications. She is a qualified Institute of Leadership & Management (ilm) internal quality assessor and an ilm Centre Manager.

Her other areas of expertise include Employee Engagement, Performance Management Systems and Coaching. She is passionate about supporting individuals develop to reach their full potential.  A qualified coach she is the lead in driving the ‘Coach Approach’ strategy within NIFRS.

Gráinne is a graduate of the University of Ulster and holds a BA (Hons) in Business, a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration & Law (PGDip) and an MSc in Management & Corporate Governance.  She is a Chartered Member of the CIPD and holds a CIPD level 7 Diploma in Human Resource Development. 

Grainne’s Team were finalists in the CIPD NI 2021 Awards for best L&D Team and again in 2022 for the Best Employee Voice Initiative. 

Gráinne was a finalist and highly commended in the NI Women in Business Awards 2022 for Outstanding Innovation for her work within the Fire & Rescue Sector.
