Mark Simpson

Mark Simpson is an award-winning TV and Radio news reporter. He started his career in the 1990s as a sports reporter, before moving into news/political reporting. He worked for all three Belfast daily newspapers: the Belfast Telegraph, Irish News and News Letter. He was appointed political correspondent at the BBC in 1998, the same year as the Good Friday Agreement. He went on to work for BBC network news as Ireland Correspondent and North of England Correspondent, before returning to the BBC in Belfast. Away from work, he is a year-round open water swimmer, mainly at Helen’s Bay where he grew up.
