Rebecca Stroud-Matthews

Deputy Chief People Officer, Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust

Rebecca is currently Deputy Chief People Officer at KMPT, the mental health Trust providing services to 1.8 million people in Kent and Medway with an annual revenue of around £250 million and a substantive headcount of around 4,000 people. She qualified in law from King’s College London and has since worked in a range of general management, project and HR and Organisational Development roles across the NHS, as well as supporting small independent businesses through the pandemic through a company she co-founded.

Rebecca is particularly motivated by achieving best value for the tax-payer, and currently chairs the Temporary Staffing Subgroup across Kent and Medway NHS organisations, the members of which have delivered almost £30 million efficiency (about 22% reduction) in the past year.  She also has a keen interest in creating environments where people can do their best work, and is proud in a previous workplace to have managed a staff experience and culture programme which took the organisation from the bottom quartile of NHS Trusts nationally in relation to staff experience to the top quartile over a 3 year period. Finally, Rebecca has a special interest in the multi-generational workforce and designing workplaces for the future, and whilst managing the dynamic nature of the NHS, is currently focused on improving the quality of workforce planning and on working out how to create the sort of customisable employer value proposition she believes the future workforce will expect.

In her free time, Rebecca can be found hosting her local community book club, hiking with her husband and rather large dog, or slowly working towards her private pilot’s license.
