2025 DAY ONE HIGHLIGHTS

What an incredible opening day for the CIPD Annual Conference and Exhibition. There was an excited and engaged atmosphere throughout.


In his opening remarks on day one of the conference, Peter Cheese reflected on the political, economic, social, technological, legal and environmental pressures that are transforming how we work - exploring what these trends mean for the people professionals who dedicate their careers to ensuring work delivers value for everyone.


Peter Cheese announced that he will be retiring from the role in June 2026, after 14 years dedicated service. Peter has led the CIPD through a period of major transformation, strengthening its voice and reach across the people profession, policy, business, and its social impact.

It was great to see such a vibrant Exhibition floor and Conference sessions, showcasing everything from new wellbeing initiatives to financial services and sustainable energy solutions. Delegates reconnected with suppliers, built new relationships, and strengthened partnerships across the sector.

Across the Insight and Conference stages, attendees joined expert speakers to explore the future of work, upcoming legislative changes, and how people professionals can prioritise their own wellbeing while supporting others through change.
