Kate Dearden MP

Minister for Employment Rights and Consumer Protection, Department for Business and Trade

Kate Dearden MP was born and raised in Bingley, West Yorkshire and studied  International Relations at the University of Edinburgh. Prior to becoming an MP, she  worked for the Labour Party and Community Union.  

Kate was elected as the MP for Halifax in July 2024 and was an Assistant Whip  before being appointed as the Minister for Employment Rights and Consumer  Protection at the Department for Business and Trade on 7th September 2025.
