Dr Juliet Hassard
Reader in Organisation, Work and Leadership, Queen's University Belfast
Dr Juliet Hassard is Reader in Work, Health and Employment and Director of Postgraduate Research at Queen’s Business School, Queen’s University Belfast. Her research centres on how leadership, management practices, and organisational design can foster psychologically safe and healthy workplaces. She has particular expertise in the prevention and management of work-related stress through prevention-focused strategies, with a strong interest in diversity and inclusion within organisations.
She has secured over £12.8 million in research funding as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on projects funded by the ESRC, UK Government, European agencies, and industry partners. Dr Hassard has published more than 90 works in leading journals such as the Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology, Work & Stress, and Occupational and Environmental Medicine, as well as contributing to policy reports for the UK Government, EU-OSHA, and the European Commission.
A recipient of the American Psychological Association/NIOSH Career Achievement Award (2021), Dr Hassard is an Executive Committee Member of the European Academy for Occupational Health Psychology. She regularly engages in knowledge-exchange with policy, business, and international organisations, including invited contributions to the Council of Europe. Her work has informed major initiatives such as the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work’s Healthy Workplaces Manage Stress campaign. She has also appeared on numerous national and international media outlets (e.g., The Independent, BBC World News) and featured on podcasts such as Change the Conversation and the FlourishDx Psych Health and Safety Podcast.
