The UK Modern Slavery Act requires all businesses with an annual turnover above £36 million to publish an annual statement on Modern Slavery and Trafficking, identifying their steps to ensuring there is no slavery and human trafficking in their business (and their supply chain). Despite this, one survey indicated that 77% of organisations expected to find modern slavery in their operations or supply chain.

In this session we’ll be holding a mock hearing to explore a case of whistleblowing and unfair dismissal. What protection should be given to whistleblowers? Would you be able to distinguish between a dismissal for poor conduct vs as a retaliation for whistleblowing? The audience will be given the chance to experience what happens at a conduct hearing, explore deeper aspects of the case, ask questions of the parties involved and then form their own verdict.
