Lucy Carter

Lucy’s HR career is deeply rooted in the retail sector. Starting her journey in operations management at Boots and Superdrug, Lucy then worked for 9 years as an HR Business Partner with Asda. In this role, she enjoyed hands-on responsibilities across recruitment, employee relations, workforce planning, profitability initiatives, new store setups, and supporting staff engagement and wellbeing.

After relocating to Cornwall, Lucy began consulting for Seasalt Cornwall in 2019, a fast-growing local fashion retailer, before formally joining the team in 2020. Currently, she leads Seasalt’s Employee Experience, Volunteering, and HR functions. Known for her skill in relationship-building, influencing, and clear communication, Lucy has been instrumental in advancing Seasalt’s employee engagement strategy. Her cross-functional projects prioritise creating a supportive and seamless experience for employees, with many initiatives inspired directly by employee feedback. Her commitment to “listening to our people” has resulted in a steady increase in engagement levels.

A dedicated advocate for innovation and continuous improvement, Lucy is always exploring new ways to enhance organisational performance and employee support. Recently, she led the HR operations set up for Seasalt’s first U.S. store opening and is currently supporting the complete replatforming of the company’s HR systems.
